Tamworth
is also home to a thriving arts and crafts culture with many galleries

Walking Trails
Heritage Walk, Hands of Fame Park
Visitors can comfortably complete this 4.7km walk in approximately 1.5 hours.
Kamilaroi Walking Trail
This trail commences at Oxley Scenic lookout, top of White Street and
visitors should allow about three hours. There are shorter trails available.
Barbecues and picnic tables are also provided.
Museums and Galleries
Gallery of Stars Wax Museum
This museum caters to the enjoyment of country music fans. The life-like
stars of Country Music are displayed in individual settings which reflect
some aspect of their life or music.

Powerhouse Motorcycle Museum
This museum is a must-see for the motorcycle enthusiast. There are over
50 restored motorcycles from the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's housed here.
Models include Ducati, Triumph, Honda, Velocette, and Laverda bikes. |

Tamworth City Gallery
Throughout the year, this gallery provides changing exhibitions of visual
art, craft forms and media. Special events and workshops are also held
from time to time.
Tamworth Powerstation Museum
The Powerstation Museum tells the story of the introduction of lighting
to Tamworth. It begins in 1876 with the installation of the first street
lamp, an oil lamp through to 1882 when 25 gas streetlights were operating.
The gas lamps were refitted to operate with electric lamps in 1888.
Day Trips
There are a number of day trips to nearby towns and villages available to the visitor
to Tamworth.
Lake Keepit State Park
Lake Keepit is about two thirds the size of Sydney Harbour and only 40
minutes from Tamworth. Lake Keepit offers camping, fishing and other activities
throughout the year.
Nundle
The historical township of Nundle is 60km southeast of Tamworth, nesting
at the foot of the Great Dividing Range. The district offers the fisherman
excellent trout fishing while fossisking for minerals is another attraction
of the area. The Nundle Woollen Mill with its historic machinery and retail
shop is open to visitors each day.
Quirindi - Wallabadah
Wallabadah and Quirindi are situated south of Tamworth on the New England
Highway. The Wallabadah Picnic Races are held each year on New Years Day.
